Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, Weekend rotation: Variable, No on-call Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Two (2) years of experience required License: Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan upon hire Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) Must-Have: RN MI License, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Job Description: - Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care and in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. - Communicates and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordination of care. - Acts as a patient/family advocate. - Performs point-of-care testing as required. - Demonstrates high standards of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior. - Formulates decisions and actions based on ethical principles and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. - Advocates for privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data. - Assesses the overall needs of the patient/family and analyzes data to identify potential diagnoses or issues. - Identifies expected outcomes/goals and develops and implements an individualized interprofessional plan of care to achieve those outcomes in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice. - Evaluates patient and family educational needs and employs appropriate teaching strategies while continually evaluating progress toward goal achievement. - Initiates patient discharge planning at the time of patient contact and facilitates a smooth transition to the next point of service/home. - Ensures that required documentation is performed accurately and in a timely manner. - Assumes an autonomous leadership role and delegates appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner. - Engages in activities related to the professional role and seeks to continually advance knowledge and competence related to nursing practice, completing self and peer evaluations of nursing practice. - Participates in ongoing improvement activities that contribute to quality patient care. - Committed to granting reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable laws. - Floating is required as needed by the unit or per census, with a secondary location as needed. Note: An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required, while a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. All team members are required to have received COVID-19 vaccinations subject to specific exclusions based on job categories.
