Job Title: Mechanical Quantity SurveyorLocation: Essex, UKSalary: £65,000 - £75,000 per annumCompany OverviewA leading contractor in the thermal insulation industry, involved in a variety of projects from small installations to major contracts worth up to £2 million, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial aspects of projects from their office based in Romford.Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual elements of diverse projects. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams to ensure alignment and successful project completion.Responsibilities Engage with clients to fully understand and meet their needs. Measure, record, and value work according to industry standards and specific project requirements. Monitor project expenditures to ensure they remain within budget. Produce detailed cost and value reports for management. Manage the change control process, ensuring accurate cost variations are documented and approved. Prepare and manage contracts, bills of quantities, and schedules of rates. Compile and reconcile cost and value data. Oversee submission and negotiation of project adjustments with clients. Manage subcontractor accounts and assess commercial risks. Provide expertise on claims, disputes, and contractual issues.Key Skills & Qualifications Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong mathematical, numerical, and analytical capabilities. Proven interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Experienced in using technology and surveying software relevant to the industry. Proficient in project management, with the ability to handle pressure and make decisive actions. Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate teams. Deep understanding of engineering, construction principles, and commercial awareness. Candidates from an MEP background are strongly encouraged to apply.Education Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, preferably accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Candidates with RICS-approved qualifications or equivalent commercial experience in the thermal insulation or MEP sectors are preferred. LI-PB1
