Senior Water Resource Engineer / Senior Engineering Hydrologist

A leading consulting firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Water Resource Engineer / Senior Engineering Hydrologist to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for hydrological analyses and water resource planning to support multidisciplinary projects across various sectors. Experience & Key Requirements: · BEng Civil or BSc Hydrology (Honours); a Masters degree is preferred. · Professional Registration (PrSciNat or PrEng). · 8 years of experience in a similar role. · Extensive expertise in hydrological modelling, water resource planning, flood determination, stormwater planning, and mining sector projects. · Strong proficiency in GoldSim and other modelling systems used in South Africa. · Experience in national and regional water planning, including feasibility studies for water infrastructure projects in the mining sector. · Consulting experience with National Water Resource Ministries/Authorities (e.g., DWS South Africa). · Understanding of contemporary adaptation strategies, such as Ecosystem-based Adaptation. Key Responsibilities: · Conduct and process hydrological data analyses, determine hydrological parameters, and delineate catchments. · Perform surface water runoff and flood peak runoff calculations and water balance analyses. · Develop and evaluate water balances using GoldSim. · Conduct reservoir and canal routing assessments. · Design flood hydrology and hydraulic models. · Conceptualize and size stormwater infrastructure. · Assess flood risks and determine flood lines. · Develop Water Conservation and Demand Management Plans. · Prepare Water Services Development Plans. · Conduct catchment hydrology assessments, including rainfall-runoff modelling. · Prepare and review scientific reports. · Manage projects, liaise with clients, and mentor junior personnel.
