Financial Accountant (Insurance)

Key Purpose: The Financial Accountant (Insurance) contributes to the companys goals by providing financial support aligned to the companys strategy. This role entails an intense focus on the reconciliation of data attention to detail and accuracy is critical. EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Matric Prefer B. Com. degree with accounting major or similar Experience in MS GreatPlains (GP) and GRID preferable System accounting experience is an advantage Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED: Super-User/Advanced Microsoft Excel skills compulsory Deadline-driven, team player that is reliable and dependable with a positive attitude Sensitivity - Personal Attention to detail with analytical insights DUTIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Month-End Deliverables (within required deadlines): Preparation of bordereaux and accounting schedules Preparation of cashbook Posting of journals System reconciliations Bank reconciliations Balance sheet reconciliations Underwriter reconciliations Preparation and distribution of management accounts Ensure accounting for the deliverables from other departments within finance: Credit Control Commissions Claim payments Attend to ad hoc queries Assist in budget and forecast cycles Attend to multiple internal and external audits throughout the year Assist in the identification of internal control weaknesses and suggest/implement improvements Provide financial analysis and insights in support of business decision-making needs OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Clear Criminal record Own and live up to the company values Attend training initiatives to improve work quality and enhance own skills
