This position reports to R&D Team Lead Your role and responsibilities In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work as a Test Engineer for the Energy Distribution business line within the Smart Building division, joining the Global R&D Electronic pre-compliance Testing Team. The selected candidate will perform verification and explorative tests on new products under development. This activity should be done with special attention and analysis capabilities to bring a constructive and active contribution to the development of the new products and requires collaboration with the HW, FW, and SW developers. The tests are conducted in an R&D laboratory with dedicated equipment (e.g., voltage/current generators) and with the proper SW tools. You will be mainly accountable for: Defining test plans and test cases for design verification and for pre-compliance testing. Leading the execution of the test and reporting to the design team and stakeholders. Instructing and supporting other colleagues on the usage of the testing equipment, software, and tools (including other ABB sites abroad). Cooperating in the design of new testing tools and SW. Collaborating with the development team for troubleshooting HW, FW, and SW issues. Tracking the tests and the results using structured tools (e.g., DevOps). Focusing on automatic test execution and test automation using specific tools (e.g., NI TestStand). Proposing improvements in the existing test techniques, based on experience and use of new equipment, for test and measurement equipment. Keeping up to date with technologies, tools, and methods, implementing initiatives to improve the effectiveness of testing. Participating constructively in working teams, sharing own technical/scientific knowledge in own projects, and supporting colleagues in applying processes and tools. Qualifications for the role Degree (Science/Engineering) in Electronics- or Software- Domains 2-5 years of experience in Electronic/Computer Engineering, working/studying preferably as SW developer/Test Engineer with Networks and Electronic products. Experience with TestStand NI Software in both design and run test sequences. Knowledge of electrical engineering and basic knowledge of electrical measuring instruments (e.g., multimeter, oscilloscope). Experience with C#, LabView, Python, and GIT. Basic knowledge of DevOps or similar tools (e.g., Jira, Polarion). Proactivity, teamwork skills, problem solving, and result orientation. A solution-focused approach and good written and spoken communication skills. Good written/spoken English. Written/spoken Italian is a plus. More about us We value people from different backgrounds.
