Job Description
Location: Kempton Park, Johannesburg Salary: CTC/- R23 000 pm Benefits: 16.5% Provident fund contribution (Employee) Shifts: Would be required to work overtime/shifts. BEE candidates Main Purpose of the Job To manage the day-to-day cargo operations by allocating resources to the movement of freight within the network and maintaining an on-time performance to ensure safe and efficient operations. Minimum Qualifications Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent (NQF Level 5) (Essential) Minimum Experience Minimum of 2 years working experience in the Airline or Freight industry (Essential) Functional Training Customer Service Training Report Writing Discipline in the Workplace Supervisory/Management Training Winfreight (Operations and Finance) Regulated Training Dangerous Goods Category 6 AVSEC Level 3 Airside Induction Training Live Animals Regulations Training Lithium Ion Batteries Infectious Substances Perishable Cargo Human Factors Training Safety Management Systems Training Environmental / Other Conditions Available for shift work during operational operating hours; may be required to work overtime Available to travel nationally when required Driver's License and own transport Behavioral Professional and positive appearance and attitude Customer Service oriented Self-motivated Time management Attention to detail Emotional intelligence Skills Administrative skills Planning skills Communication skills Time management skills Customer and Supplier Service Maintain a helpful, positive, and friendly manner when dealing with customers to provide an optimal customer experience, driving up customer satisfaction. Keep clients informed of their cargo whereabouts by maintaining open and frequent communications with branches and divisions within the company, enhancing the customer experience. Engage with relevant departments to address client concerns, rebuilding and improving client relationships while maintaining professionalism. Safety and Security Conduct daily security briefings on each shift and submit discussion points with a list of attendees to senior management. Identify non-compliance areas and enforce corrective measures to comply with occupational health and safety regulations and the company policies. Report suspicious, undeclared, and miss-declared cargo related to Dangerous Goods regulations and the company security standards. Report suspicious activities immediately to law enforcement to address deviations from security regulations. Ensure staff displays permits and wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to comply with Airport Authority standards. Promote hazard awareness and steer clear of demarcated areas using signs and signals to keep employees and visitors aware of hazardous areas. Check that evacuation signage and documents are visible in demarcated areas and brief employees on evacuation protocols. Report non-conformances daily on IQSMS system and investigate incidents, implementing preventative measures based on recommendations from the Quality Department and/or Senior Management. Equipment Serviceability Inspections Ensure daily inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of the company equipment and mitigate any injury risks. Manage warehouse equipment inspection checklists, identifying serviceable and unserviceable items, and report findings to Management for action. Engage with service providers to obtain quotations for repairs, then hand over to Branch Administrator for Purchase Orders and follow up on timely completion. Report unserviceable electronic equipment to superior and/or IT department for immediate attention. People Management Compile monthly rosters ensuring employees are scheduled according to Department of Labours regulated hours and employment conditions. Submit monthly rosters to senior management, and communicate leave requests and shift changes. Schedule employees for regulated training to ensure compliance with aviation regulations. Conduct shift checks to ensure personnel are at their assigned stations. Monitor employee time and attendance to ensure punctuality. Maintain discipline based on the companys disciplinary code. Delegate and manage operational workers, resolving any deviations promptly. Monitor employee performance per shift to ensure optimal performance. Cargo and General Operations Conduct daily briefings with staff to outline expectations for smooth operations. Compile daily shift reports and forward them to senior management to inform about operational performance. Submit monthly rosters to senior management for pre-planning purposes. Monitor cargo from customers to ensure it is processed correctly, meeting all security and acceptance criteria. Ensure staff handles cargo in line with standards, including capturing correct weights and dimensions and ensuring 100% screening and X-ray procedures. Address discrepancies promptly, report to clients and management, and implement corrective actions to avoid complaints. Check that Flight Files are complete with all regulated documentation required for audits. Investigate customer complaints and airline issues, providing complete reports with findings and recommendations. Ensure smooth shift handover processes, ensuring staff adherence to procedures. Maintain cleanliness across the branch, including acceptance areas, back operations, and exterior warehouse areas.
