The following position has become available for a Seed Health Supervisor, based in Kempton Park. The purpose of this role is to ensure that all products received are reconciled with accompanied documentation and subjected to quality protocols and are treated / dried / packed in line with prescribed procedures and protocolas per quality specifications and time frames in order to meet customer requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning & Scheduling In conjunction with the Cleaning Manager, Packing Supervisor plan and schedule the treatment / drying of seed in accordance with the cleaning and packing schedule and job cards generated. Review Chemical stock daily / weekly and take the necessary actions to ensure sufficient stock available for treatment requirements. Ensure that sufficient manpower is available for shifts and/or overtime for the effective and efficient execution of planned work schedules. Treatment Job Cards: Ensure that job cards are correctly completed after treatment as per treatment instructions. Ensure that the correct treatment protocols are followed as per treatment procedures and requirements indicated on Job Card for down packing. Record completion of all treatment job cards on Seed Treatment register/Sage X3. Submit samples after Treatment / Drying to the Quality Laboratory for testing Register samples submitted to the Lab Quality System Ensure that all treated job cards are given to the Packing Supervisor for packing to commence. Seed Treatment and Packing: Take full responsibility for the calibration and setting of all machines and equipment prior to seed treatment and drying. Ensure that correct seed reference numbers and chemicals are drawn in line with job card specifications for Treatment to commence. Ensure that seed treatment and drying is scheduled and prioritized in line with planning schedule and customer requirements. Continually supervise and monitor the seed treatment and drying processes and ensure procedures are followed to comply with quality standards. Ensure that all markings, coding and labeling on packed seed after treatment and drying are accurate and in line with quality specifications. Sampling of Seed: Complete sampling form. Complete sample label before sampling commences. Determine correct number of primary samples to be drawn, according to sampling intensities, as prescribed by ISTA. Sampling of seed lots according to ISTA Rules. Obtain the prescribed submitted sample according to the ISTA Rules. Register sample on the Laboratory Quality system/ Sage X3. Supervise Treatment and Drying processes: Supervise all personnel and activities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity by optimising the use of equipment and labour. Provide on the job training as and when required. Take full responsibility for planning and compiling shift and overtime rosters ensuring maximum efficiency for both equipment and labour. Ensure that accurate time keeping records are submitted for processing of wages. Storage: Ensure that seed and chemicals for storage is stored in line with laid down quality procedures. Ensure that all storage space is optimised by applying effective storage and housekeeping practises. Monitor necessity for fumigation requirements on an ongoing basis and arrange for fumigation to be executed by the Cleaning Manager. Requirements: REQUIREMENTS: Qualification: Grade 12 (Essential) Production Management Diploma (Ideal) Valid drivers license Experience: Assistant Seed Treatment Supervisor - 5 years ISTA seed sampling Seed treatment and drying Skills: Excel Sage X3
