Job Description
As the Manager, Data Engineering, you will : - Lead and mentor a team of (a mix of) data engineers, analytics engineer, an SRE specialist, and a data QA specialist, ensuring high performance, skill development, and collaboration. - Oversee the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines that support both operational and analytical use cases. - Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable, efficient, and reliable data solutions. - Design and implement cloud-based data infrastructure solutions (e.g, Azure, Snowflake) that meet the company's growing data needs. - Ensure the data platform's performance, reliability, and scalability, with a focus on continuous improvement. - Champion data quality and governance practices, working closely with the Data Governance Lead, Data Quality Engineer and the Data QA specialist to maintain high standards. - Develop and implement automation and monitoring strategies with the SRE specialist to ensure the platform is operational 24/7. - Collaborate with business and product teams to ensure data solutions align with business needs and strategic objectives. - Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements and innovations to the data platform. THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART. Must-Have Experience : - 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and optimizing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. - Experience leading or mentoring cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and high performance. - Strong expertise in cloud platforms (e.g, Snowflake, AWS, Azure) and data storage solutions. - In-depth knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and modern data architectures. - Experience working with operational data systems, data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data pipelines. - Familiarity with automation, monitoring, and incident management practices in data infrastructure (SRE principles). - Proven ability to ensure data quality and collaborate with data governance teams. Technical Skills : - Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g, Python, SQL, Scala). - Experience with big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Snowflake, Hadoop, or similar technologies. - Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (e.g, Terraform). - Experience with data quality frameworks and tools. - Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g, Docker, Kubernetes). Soft Skills : - Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse technical team. - Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on optimizing and scaling data systems. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. - Strong focus on business outcomes, ensuring data infrastructure supports organizational goals. Education : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. - Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, data engineering, or software engineering are a plus. Nice to Have : - Experience in the retail or fashion industry, particularly in scaling data platforms to meet fast-growing business needs. - Hands-on experience with data governance tools and practices. - Knowledge of emerging data technologies, such as machine learning pipelines, real-time streaming analytics, or DataOps practices.
