JOB TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT CTC: R25,000 R35,000 Reporting To: Senior Associate Company Description: The company is dedicated to meeting the increasing demand for specialised accounting, tax, and compliance services, particularly within the private business and trust industry. Over time, the company has become a trusted choice for numerous trading companies, start-ups, family offices, private families, and B-BBEE trusts in South Africa, as their reliable back-office support. Job Summary: The Senior accountant is responsible for maintaining the main client relationship and deadlines as well as managing team members to ensure the client financial controls and compliance runs smoothly. Each Senior Accountant deals with a portfolio of clients, where various team-members provide services. I.e. Income Tax Compliance, Payroll, Cash Management and basic capturing are all performed by various team-members. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the management of the client and team deliverables as a whole. Deliverables include managing client financial records, ensuring the accuracy of financial reports, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. This role requires advanced accounting knowledge and strong analytical skills. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting General Ledger Management Month-End/Year-End Closing Budgeting and Forecasting Internal Controls Tax Compliance Team Leadership and Mentoring Cash Flow Management Ad hoc Financial Analysis Skills & Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Experience: Typically 3-5 years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Xero accounting software and Excel (advanced functions). Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend solutions. Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and reconciliation. Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and mentor a team, providing clear guidance and feedback. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Personal Attributes: Strong ethical standards and integrity in handling financial data. Analytical thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and accounting standards.
