Principal Engineer

Opportunity a fast-growing Fintech start-up within the payments space who are seeking a Principal Engineer to join the team. You will be hands-on focusing mostly across backend development, working closely with the CTO and development team to rebuild PHP (Laravel) codebase and modernise their tech stack Experience required: Strong experience and understanding of backend architecture.An understanding of the PHP language and ecosystem.Experience across modern TypeScript frameworks - Node.js, Nest.js (BONUS)Experience with modular architecture will be highly regarded.Strong AWS. Past experiences in Fintech (Payments / Open Banking) will be highly regarded.RESTful APIs in-collaboration with mobile engineers. What you’d be doing in this role: Refactor and evolve our PHP Laravel API codebase into a modular architectureWrite feature, unit, and Integration testsScale and evolve our database schemaWork closely with Android and iOS developersConduct code development, review, testing, and deployment CICD Key responsibilities: Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions using Laravel API and MySQL on AWS.Play a part in potentially moving to more modern tech stack. Building new features and products while enhancing the existing platformBringing new ideas to help drive the development forwardCollaborate with teams to design, develop, and implement new features and functionalitiesParticipate in code reviews and provide feedback to ensure code quality and maintainabilityTroubleshoot and debug issues in a timely mannerOptimise and enhance the performance of existing software solutionsDeploy and manage applications in AWSContinuously learn and stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies
