Job Description
HPX and Imagine Exhibitions are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our exhibition team, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while overseeing all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the venue. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong background in venue management, team leadership, and customer service excellence. 9-month fixed-term contract – annual salary paid pro rata. For immediate start through to October 2025. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Drive the service culture of providing incomparable experiences for our guests. Drive the sales culture of selling exhibition tickets, merchandise, and other products and services. Drive increases in employee engagement scores. Be the ultimate role model for team members regarding guest-facing behaviours. Safeguard the company’s brands in all PR and marketing activity. Set and execute a successful productivity strategy. Create and sustain external partnerships and networks. Drive innovation, pre-empt opportunities, mitigate risk, and adapt at pace. Responsible for the health and safety of our guests, team members, venues, and assets. Lead the venue team to ensure the attraction exceeds guest expectations. Ensure the exhibition operates at maximum efficiency with required staffing levels met. Complete and submit daily and weekly reports as required. Maintain onsite petty cash account. Provide prompt responses and solutions to challenges inside the exhibition. Communicate all challenges, issues, and relevant information regarding the venue, exhibition, guest service, and brand with key stakeholders. Manage and ensure all technical and guest service disruptions are reported immediately to the appropriate party and within the provided protocol. Provide professional responses to online and in-person guest inquiries. Perform any other duties consistent with this job description as may be reasonably requested by management. PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proven experience in successfully managing all aspects of an entertainment venue. Ability to lead a team towards the common goals of incomparable guest service, maximising revenues, and minimising expenses. Must be able to work flexible hours, with regular weekend work as standard. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to function in high-pressure situations. Manual dexterity to operate a computer. Correctable vision and hearing. Excellent interpersonal skills. Clear, easy-to-understand oral communication ability. Ability to lift 23 kilograms occasionally for the purpose of moving equipment on and off shelves. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Ability to sit for long periods. Capability to read, write, and understand English. Skilled in the use of computer and office equipment. Proficient in activities requiring manual dexterity of both hands. Primarily an onsite position.
