POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – Department of Veteran Affairs (SME – DVA)Division/Business Unit/Team: ConsultingReporting to: Managing DirectorLocation: Melbourne, Australia (Onsite/Hybrid) POSITION SUMMARYThe DVA Subject Matter Expert (SME) plays a critical role in supporting clients to navigate the DVA provider approval process and ensure their compliance with DVA regulations, funding requirements, and service delivery standards. The SME will provide expert guidance, policy interpretation, compliance auditing, and strategic advisory services to clients looking to establish or expand their DVA-approved services. The SME will also contribute to training, policy development, and business strategy for clients. The ideal candidate will work independently, strategically enhancing client operations and fostering growth within the DVA sector. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESConsultation & Advisory: Provide expert guidance to clients on the DVA provider approval process and funding arrangements. Assist clients in preparing and submitting DVA provider applications and compliance documentation. Conduct gap analyses and provide tailored recommendations to ensure clients meet DVA service and quality standards.Offer strategic advice on business structuring, service delivery models, and operational planning for DVA-approved providers. Compliance & Policy Development:Develop and review policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with DVA guidelines and Aged Care Quality Standards.Develop training manuals and compliance guides for clients.Assist with internal audits, risk assessments, and non-conformity resolutions for clients. Project Delivery: Oversee the execution of clients’ projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client expectations. Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the DVA sector, focusing on expanding the client base and enhancing market presence. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty through tailored consulting services. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop and implement effective business strategies that address their specific needs and operational challenges.Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices, sharing relevant knowledge with clients to help them stay competitive. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports on client performance, market conditions, and growth opportunities for presentation to senior leadership. ROLE REQUIREMENTS Experience: Experience in DVA-related services. Understanding of DVA provider requirements, funding structures, and regulatory compliance.Experience with business consulting or advisory services. Experience in overseeing project execution and managing client engagements.Ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and provide clear, actionable advice to clients.Experience preparing policy documents, reports, and client advisory materials. Business Acumen: Proven ability in business development and client relationship management, with a strategic approach to fostering growth. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders effectively. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide actionable recommendations. Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and proactively identify opportunities for improvement and growth within client operations.
