About YouYou are a tertiary graduate with qualification in Commerce, Engineering or Science and you seek, or have experience, in the following: Working in the energy industrySpot trading in the National Energy MarketAnalysing energy market dynamics and communicating trendsUsing established trading systems and market data systemsMaking quick decisions focused on optimisation and acting to capture opportunity About the roleThe Spot Trader and Operator is part of Iberdrola Australia’s Operations Control Centre which is responsible for dispatch, monitoring, analysis and performance reporting of Iberdrola Australia’s growing generation fleet of renewable energy and firming assets and optimising these with an expanding customer portfolio. Working a continuous 24/7 roster cycle shift roster, responsible for the trading and dispatch of Iberdrola Australia’s wind, solar, battery and gas assets. You will be empowered to make quick decisions that manage risk and increase revenue across the energy and gas markets. You will provide the business with analytics and reporting outlining market trends, constraints and competitor behaviour, working with database queries in programming languages such as SQL, Power Query/BI, Python. Your understanding of the market will directly help shape businesses strategy and decision making in the spot market, and across the mid and long-term. As well as managing dispatch you will also be responsible for identifying and assessing issues impacting plant availability and compliance.
