Do work that matters The CIO for Technology team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our new AI Powered Engineering function dedicated to working with Commonwealth Bank's global engineering community to use AI assisted tools and capabilities in ways that improve the engineering experience and productivity. Role responsibilities: Write and test product or system development code. Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g. style guidelines, checking code for accuracy, testability, and efficiency) Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback. Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analysing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality. Conduct self-driven research on emerging AI assisted tools and capabilities. We are interested in hearing from people who have: Hands-on experience in building, deploying, and maintaining robust software solutions Familiarity with AI/ML and Gen AI tools and frameworks, and an understanding of their potential in streamlining development processes A solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including the SDLC, IaC, CI/CD pipelines and testing practice The ability to take ownership of complex tasks, break them down into actionable steps, and deliver results Advanced programming skills in languages such as Python, TypeScript, JavaScript or C# Commercial or side project experience in one or more of the following technologies or related technologies: Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline A good understanding and hands on experience with API development and microservices architecture Proficiency in collaborative development practices and agile methodologies Proficiency in cloud platforms - AWS and Microsoft Azure Experience with containerisation tools Hands on experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments (including experience with GitHub Actions and other infrastructure-as-code platforms) Familiarity with Agile work management tools (eg.
