Job Description

Position Information Dubbo West Public school is located in the central west of NSW. We are a P-6 school and have a student enrolement of 341. There are two MC classes, one IM class, an Opportunity class, 14 mainstream classes and 70% of our students are Aboriginal. Our school has a strong focus on Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and consistently lead high quality, inclusive, well-being practices for students. At Dubbo West Public School, we strive for excellence and are committed to embedding explicit teaching practices across the school to promote a culture of high expectations where learning is inclusive and valued by the whole school community. Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria, Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with diverse intellectual, and mental health needs, with the ability to initiate and lead change that builds staff capacity and improve outcomes for students. Proven ability to lead evidence-based practices to implement high quality differentiated curriculum including the development and implementation of student specific plans, that impact positively on student engagement. Evidence of a highly visible, approachable, and collaborative leader with a capacity to build positive, inclusive, trusting relationships & partnerships with students, families, staff, external agencies and the wider community. High-level organisational, interpersonal and management skills to balance classroom teaching with the complex administration demands of the Assistant Principal role. General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
