Job Title: Probate Solicitor Location: DE21, Wyvern Business Park, Derby Hours of work: Hours of work: 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week) Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 Per Annum Bonus (£45,000 Per Annum) Who are Right Legal Group? Key Responsibilities: Take full responsibility for managing a caseload of Probate files, handling both grant-only applications and the full administration of estates. Regularly complete IHT205 and IHT400 forms with relevant schedules for taxable and non-taxable estates, ensuring compliance with all tax requirements. Apply for exemptions and reliefs as appropriate. Assessing the tax position of the estate and advising on tax efficient Deeds of variation Lead client meetings for local clients, offering expert guidance and support throughout the probate process. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction. Handle the early stages of contentious probate cases, including placing and removing caveats, responding to Larke v Nugus requests, and addressing disputes such as validity challenges and I(PFD)A claims, prior to formal litigation. Working with an effective case management system to ensure consistency of approach across the department Working with the team to develop the department’s processes and procedures Key Skills & Experience: Strong experience in managing Probate files, from straightforward to complex estates. Proven knowledge of estate taxation, including IHT205, IHT400 forms, and the relevant exemptions/reliefs. Experience in providing tax-efficient advice on Deeds of Variation. Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to manage relationships and provide clear, professional advice. Ability to handle early-stage contentious probate matters, including disputes and caveat management. Proficient in using case management systems and maintaining high standards of record-keeping.
