Job Description

Principal Mechanical Engineer - Multi-disciplinary Water Team Location: England (Hybrid role, based at one of their UK offices) Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer for one of our key clients to join their multi-disciplinary water team. This reputable consultancy firm specialises in design and engineering services across various sectors, including aviation, defence, and public infrastructure. Established over 60 years, they operate a network of offices throughout Europe. They are committed to delivering sustainable, innovative solutions, shaping a healthier, sustainable, and safer world. Responsibilities: Supporting the Project Manager/Water Sector Director to clarify the project brief. Undertaking significant elements of the detailed design and the checking of outputs as directed (producing technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and designing pumping systems & aeration systems, hydraulic calculations, and production of construction drawings) Production of procurement specifications for mechanical equipment. Provide engineering input design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams. Project managing third party designs and providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams ensuring the Clients' Technical Requirements are met throughout the design. Business development- assisting the preparation of statements, expression of tenders and building relationships with both new and existing clients. Requirements Experience working in wastewater infrastructure across the UK. In depth knowledge of the layout and interconnectivity of typical wastewater treatment works processes and equipment. Experienced in coaching and mentoring with excellent communication skills Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field; Masters degree preferred Incorporated or Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution.
