Job Summary:

The Lead Quality Control Technician will oversee quality control operations at our field operations, supporting our paving crews and construction operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in material testing and analysis, with a focus on ensuring compliance with State, Federal, and local specifications.


Essential Functions:

1. Dedication. Lead a team of quality control technicians to ensure accurate and consistent testing of materials.

2. Integrity. Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain product integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

3. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.

4. Focused. Perform comprehensive density testing and core analysis of hot mix asphalt to assess quality and performance.

5. Measurement. Utilize advanced testing equipment and methodologies to evaluate material properties and characteristics.

6. Interpret test results and provide recommendations for adjustments to production processes to meet quality requirements.

7. Results matter. Ensure materials produced meet or exceed State, Federal, and local specifications, including but not limited to ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards.

8. Respect and engage. Collaborate with regulatory agencies for inspections and certifications as required. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.

9. Obligated. Generate comprehensive reports detailing findings, trends, and recommendations for management review. Maintain accurate records of all quality control activities, including test results, inspections, and corrective actions.

10. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to convey quality-related information and facilitate decision-making.

11. Innovation. Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the quality control function. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformities and improve overall quality performance.

Requirements, Education and Experience:

1. The ideal candidate should currently hold or be willing to obtain a QCT Certification from a MassDOT or NETTCP accredited program

2. Quality Control experience in the Asphalt and Concrete Industries is a plus

3. Have experience working hands-on in manual labor environments

4. Be comfortable using mechanical tools, equipment, and machinery

5. Have and maintain reliable transportation

6. Proficient literacy in English and computational Math; clear verbal and written communication is required for this position

7. Must be computer literate and comfortable using Word, Excel, and email

8. Ability to work irregular hours based upon customer’s needs including day, evenings, overnights, and occasional weekends when business requires.

9. Legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel:

Extensive travel throughout the serviced region to various plant and work locations by personal vehicle and/or company vehicle.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Medium Work; Exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs of force constantly to move objects. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
