Job Description
Industrial Relations Specialist Midrand Our Manufacturing client seeks the expertise of an Industrial Relations Specialist. The Industrial Relations Specialist will be responsible for managing and overseeing industrial relations strategies, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering positive relationships with trade unions and other employee representatives. The role requires a proactive approach to conflict resolution, negotiation, and collaboration, aimed at promoting a harmonious workplace environment. Salary: Market-related CTC Position Type: Permanent - Office based only Start Date: ASAP Industry: Manufacturing / FMCG Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field. Admitted attorney will be an added advantage Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial relations, with a proven track record of working directly with trade unions. Strong understanding of South African labor laws, regulations, and industrial relations practices. Key Responsibilities: Union Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for trade unions. Negotiate collective bargaining agreements and ensure adherence to terms. Facilitate regular meetings with union representatives to discuss employee concerns and workplace issues. Compliance & Policy Development: Ensure organizational compliance with labor legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and other relevant statutes. Develop, implement, and review policies related to industrial relations and ensure they are communicated effectively across the organization. Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve grievances and disputes between employees and management through effective negotiation and mediation. Represent the company at CCMA (Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration) hearings and other labor-related disputes. Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for management and employees on industrial relations, conflict resolution, and labor laws. Foster a culture of open communication and engagement between management and employees. Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and analyse labor trends, union activities, and employee satisfaction. Prepare reports on industrial relations matters for senior management and recommend actions. Skills: Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in HR information systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
