Job Description

The role of the incumbent is: To oversee the successful execution of all projects. To deliver projects/programs on time within the agreed budget and to meet the performance requirements. To initiate, plan, execute, monitor and close projects/programs. To guide, plan, communicate, coordinate, lead, support and report on projects/programs being executed. Bids / tenders are also considered as projects. Key Performance Areas/Accountabilities/High-Level Functions: Manage contracts in terms of the agreed deliverables and related conditions. Initiate, develop and implement suitably tailored project execution plans in collaboration with the business units and the relevant departments, taking into account legislative and regulatory requirements and project management best practices. Provide input to the overall business unit budgeting processes and then operate within the allocated budget. All project contributions to the bid / tender process. Drive continuous cost reduction on the technical component of the execution of programmes. Clearly communicate, drive and manage financial targets with all departments related to customer deliverables within the approved project budget and plan. Manage relevant supplier contracts/orders, progress and deliverables within the approved budget. Report on progress monthly. Manage the project budget, cash flow, profitability and cost to completion during execution of the project. Report on progress monthly. Coordinate the preparation of the project definition during the bid / tender process. Consolidate all program planning and technical input to ensure an executable proposal. Drive continuous improvement of processes and procedures used within the company. Ensure adherence to project management processes and procedures. Report on the progress and status of the project portfolio. Ensure that Project Managers fulfil their responsibilities. Structure and manage the scope of work, work breakdown structure and associated tasks. Plan, manage and monitor the project schedule to carry out the work with the relevant departments and business unit leaders. Report on actual vs planned schedule. Plan, request and coordinate the resources required to execute the project plan with the relevant BU Managers, COO and Department Leaders. Report on actual vs planned progress monthly. Coordinate and manage project issues raised. Report on progress monthly. Clearly communicate planned and actual project progress with the project team, plan and action interventions and alternatives when necessary. Report on progress monthly. Ensure that the project is executed in line with the tailored business processes, applications, standards and procedures as planned. Report on monthly. Ensure full compliance with industry legal and regulatory requirements and identify and act on any potential infringements to minimize implications. Report on project progress monthly and manage variances. Ensure arms control and quality assurance compliance on all aspects of the project. Ensure all configuration aspects are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. Qualification and Experience: Tertiary qualification in Programme/Project Management would be highly advantageous A relevant tertiary technical qualification Project Management Professional Certification (preferable) At least 10 years experience in a relevant engineering/high tech/defence industry In excess of 8 years experience in a project/programme management role managing complex, multi-disciplinary programmes in a matrix environment Exposure to the military development environment would be highly advantageous Experience in all facets of the project lifecycle Please send your CV to rusteynnetworkrecruitment.co.za
