Senior Mainframe Developer - COBOL Programming

Job Description : We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in PL/1 and COBOL programming for both development and maintenance projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a hybrid model for a leading corporate banking client. Key Responsibilities : - Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. - Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using PL/1, COBOL, DB2, and JCL. - Participate in the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support. - Collaborate with business stakeholders and project managers in an Agile environment to meet project deadlines and deliverables. - Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production environments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. - Maintain and enhance existing applications to improve performance, security, and functionality. - Develop and execute unit tests, integrate solutions, and provide detailed documentation. - Ensure the highest quality of code and contribute to the overall improvement of the development process. - Stay current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry trends related to mainframe development. Mandatory Skills and Experience : - 8 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development. - 3 years of practical experience in PL/1 programming. - Strong proficiency in COBOL programming and related tools. - Solid experience with DB2 (database design, queries, and optimization). - Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with JCL (Job Control Language). - In-depth understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with stakeholders and team members effectively. - Experience working in a corporate banking or financial services environment is a plus. Additional Skills : - Experience in other mainframe technologies or languages (e.,CICS, VSAM) would be beneficial. - Familiarity with version control and issue tracking tools (e., Git, Jira). - Knowledge of corporate banking domain processes is advantageous (ref:hirist.tech)
