Environmental Scientist

A leading built environment consultancy is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Assessment Practitioner to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Water Use Licence Applications (WULAs), Mining Permits, Environmental Monitoring, and Environmental Screening. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainability. Key Responsibilities: · Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments, Water Use Licence Applications, and Mining Permit Applications. · Perform Environmental Monitoring (ECO duties) and Environmental Screening in line with South African legislation. · Collaborate with project teams to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies. · Prepare detailed environmental reports and documentation for submission to regulatory bodies. · Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, communities, and clients. · Stay updated on changes to environmental legislation to ensure project compliance. · Conduct site visits and fieldwork for data collection and assessments. · Provide expert advice on sustainable development and environmental best practices. Requirements: · Experience: Minimum 8 years in a similar role. · Qualification: Honours degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field (Masters degree preferred). · Professional Registration: Must be EPASA (Reg.EAP) and SACNASP (Pri.Nat.Sci) registered. Skills: · Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation and procedures. · Analytical and problem-solving abilities. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
