Category Buyer

H9 Technical are working with a leading UK-based energy-from-waste (EfW) operator who are looking for a Category Buyer. The Category Buyer will be responsible for managing procurement activities within the power generation sector, ensuring the efficient sourcing of goods, materials, and services. Responsibilities: Develop and implement category strategies aligned with operational needs and business objectives. Manage the procurement of categories such as maintenance materials, spare parts, fuel, chemicals, and services. Conduct regular market analysis to identify new suppliers and assess cost trends. Lead the end-to-end sourcing process, including preparing tenders, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts. Ensure the timely procurement of critical supplies to avoid operational downtime. Collaborate with technical teams to develop specifications and ensure procurement meets operational requirements. Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) is highly desirable
