A Mercedes Benz dealership in Pretoria is looking for a Mercedes Benz qualified Motor Vehicle Technician to join their Service Department. Requirements: Red Seal Trade Test (Motor Vehicle) 3 years experience post qualified Mercedes Benz qualified (non-negotiable) Diagnostic training Responsibilities: Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Conduct routine vehicle servicing, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Replace faulty parts such as brakes, filters, and spark plugs. Diagnostics and Troubleshooting Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults. Analyze error codes and recommend appropriate repairs. Perform test drives to verify issues and confirm repairs. Electrical and Electronic System Repairs Diagnose and repair faults in vehicle electrical systems, such as batteries, starters, and alternators. Handle issues related to vehicle sensors, ECU (Engine Control Unit), and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). Engine and Transmission Repairs Inspect and repair engine components, including timing belts, fuel injectors, and cooling systems. Diagnose and fix transmission issues, including manual and automatic gearboxes. Vehicle Testing and Quality Assurance Conduct post-repair inspections to ensure functionality and safety compliance. Use specialized equipment like oscilloscopes and scan tools for advanced diagnostics. Customer Communication Explain diagnostic findings and repair recommendations to customers in a clear manner. Provide cost estimates for repairs and obtain customer approval before proceeding. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts used. Update service logs and ensure compliance with warranty requirements. Workshop Maintenance Keep workstations clean and organized. Ensure diagnostic tools and equipment are in proper working order. Adherence to Safety Standards Follow safety protocols when handling vehicles and equipment. Stay updated on industry safety practices and regulations.
