Job Title: Welder (CSCS Certified) – Steel Reinforcement Cages Production Location: Bristol Port, UK Project: Avonmouth - Steel Reinforcement Cages Production Job Description: We are currently seeking a Welder with a valid CSCS card to join our dynamic team at our factory in Bristol Port, where we are producing large steel reinforcement cages for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant. This role will involve welding and fabricating steel components as part of the reinforcement cages used in the construction of this vital infrastructure project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in welding, particularly with large steel reinforcements, and must have the necessary CSCS qualifications to work on-site. Key Responsibilities: Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication of steel reinforcement cages according to technical drawings and specifications. Ensure high-quality standards in welds, adhering to relevant codes and health and safety regulations. Use various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) to join steel components. Prepare and assemble steel reinforcement materials in line with production requirements. Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections of welds and fabrication work to ensure conformance with specifications. Ensure all welds are clean, strong, and free from defects. Work closely with the quality control team to ensure products meet the highest standards. Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety protocols while working with welding equipment and materials. Wear the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and ensure the welding area is clean and organized. Work safely in a factory environment, complying with all site and factory-specific safety guidelines. Maintenance and Equipment Care: Maintain welding equipment and tools to ensure proper functionality. Report any faulty equipment or issues with the production line to the maintenance team. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other welders, engineers, and fabricators to ensure timely and accurate production of steel cages. Participate in team meetings to review project progress and contribute to problem-solving efforts. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed and any materials used. Report daily activities, including the completion of welding tasks and any potential issues or delays. Key Requirements: CSCS Card: Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card required to work on the Hinkley Point C site. Welding Qualifications & Experience: Proven experience in welding and fabrication, specifically with large steel reinforcement components. Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding blueprints. Experience in Steel Reinforcement Fabrication: Experience in producing large-scale steel reinforcement cages for construction projects (preferably nuclear or heavy civil projects) is highly desirable. Health & Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in the construction and welding industries. Ability to follow strict safety guidelines and ensure a safe working environment for all team members. Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision and attention to detail, ensuring all welding and fabrication work meets strict quality standards. Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical work and handle heavy steel reinforcement materials. Comfortable working in a factory environment, with varying temperature conditions. Desirable: Previous experience working on nuclear power plant projects or similarly large-scale infrastructure projects. Forklift or Overhead Crane certification (a plus but not mandatory).
