Job Description

This is an in-office role in Syracuse, NY. No relocation assistance.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to manage the financial records and transactions of our law firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in law firm accounting and be adept at maintaining compliance with trust accounting and other legal-specific financial requirements.

Compensation:

$64,000 - $72,000

Responsibilities:
  • Record daily financial transactions, including payments, invoices, and deposits.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Reconcile bank and trust accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for firm leadership.
  • Oversee client billing, including generating invoices and tracking payments.
  • Ensure compliance with trust accounting regulations and maintain accurate client trust account records.
  • Assist with payroll processing and tax filings.
  • Collaborate with the firm's management and external accountants as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a law firm or similar professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks.
  • Strong understanding of legal trust accounting and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with legal billing systems and practices (a plus).
  • Ability to pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license.
