MEP BIM/CAD Coordinator

MEP BIM/CAD Coordinator £35K - £45K – Depending on experience London / Sussex This position is an exciting opportunity to become the first MEP BIM/CAD Coordinator within a growing organization. The ideal candidate will bring their expertise to establish and develop in-house BIM/CAD capabilities from the ground up. The role involves managing projects from Stage 3/4/5 design development through to handover to the site project team for on-site work and record drawings. Reporting to the Pre-Construction and Design Director, the successful candidate will take a proactive approach to improving pre-construction practices and driving innovation and excellence. Key Roles and Responsibilities 1. BIM Coordination Manage and maintain Building Information Modelling (BIM) standards across all pre-construction projects. Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) in collaboration with the design team. Ensure BIM models are accurate, up-to-date, and comply with project and industry standards. Coordinate multidisciplinary BIM activities to ensure seamless integration of architectural, structural, and MEP models. 2. BIM Collaboration and Integration Liaise with external design consultants and subcontractors to ensure BIM deliverables align with project requirements. Facilitate coordination meetings to address clashes, design discrepancies, and model integration issues. Work closely with the design and pre-construction teams to ensure BIM processes enhance project efficiency. 3. CAD Coordination Manage and maintain CAD standards across all pre-construction projects. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards. Utilize CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit, for 2D design execution. Coordinate multidisciplinary CAD activities for seamless model integration. 4. Model Audits and Quality Control Conduct regular audits of BIM models to ensure data integrity and compliance with standards. Identify and resolve issues within models, raising RFIs when necessary. Provide feedback to the design team to improve modelling practices and reduce errors. 5. Documentation and Reporting Prepare and issue BIM-related reports, including clash detection summaries and model progress updates. Maintain accurate records of CAD/BIM processes, updates, and project modifications. Assist in the preparation of pre-construction handover packages, including BIM deliverables. 6. Training and Support Provide training and guidance to team members on CAD/BIM software and standards. Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related queries and support. Stay updated on advancements in BIM technology and integrate relevant developments into workflows. 7. Software Management Oversee the use of CAD/BIM software, ensuring licenses are current and team members have access to necessary tools. Recommend software updates and new tools to improve modelling and coordination capabilities. 8. Compliance and Standards Ensure all CAD/BIM activities adhere to project-specific and industry-wide standards, including ISO 19650. Collaborate with project teams to maintain consistent BIM implementation across all projects. Key Competencies Proficient in CAD/BIM software, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and related tools. Strong ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure model integration. High level of accuracy in model audits, clash detection, and reporting. Ability to identify and address modelling issues proactively. Skilled in mentoring team members and promoting best practices. Excellent verbal and written communication for internal teams and stakeholders. Required Experience Demonstrable experience in CAD/BIM coordination, including model management and clash detection. Proven experience in developing and implementing BIM Execution Plans (BEPs). Experience working with design consultants and subcontractors to align BIM deliverables with project goals. Familiarity with industry standards, including ISO 19650, and their application to pre-construction activities
