Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Director, Recruitment to oversee and optimise recruitment processes across the organisation. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to influence strategic workforce planning and enhance AHL’s ability to attract and retain top talent. As the Assistant Director, you will manage end-to-end recruitment activities, develop innovative strategies to meet workforce needs, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and frameworks. You will work closely with senior leaders and hiring managers to deliver efficient, effective, and merit-based recruitment solutions aligned with organisational goals. About You We’re seeking a results-driven and innovative HR professional with a strong background in recruitment and partnerships. With extensive experience in managing recruitment processes and leading high-performing teams, you are passionate about delivering strategic workforce solutions. Your ability to engage stakeholders, develop practical recruitment strategies including working with diversity, and drive continuous improvement ensures success in a dynamic and complex environment with a national profile. The key duties of the position include: Key Capabilities Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of AHL’s recruitment strategy to meet workforce needs and align with organisational goals. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance recruitment processes, policies, and systems. Recruitment Delivery: Oversee end-to-end recruitment activities, ensuring compliance with the APS merit-based framework and relevant legislation. Partner with hiring managers to identify workforce requirements and develop tailored recruitment solutions. Lead high-volume and bulk recruitment campaigns to address operational needs efficiently. Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert advice to executives, managers, and staff on recruitment policies, processes, and best practices. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including recruitment agencies and other government departments, to attract a diverse talent pool. Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of recruitment professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Monitor team performance and provide coaching to ensure high-quality recruitment outcomes. Data and Reporting: Develop and maintain robust reporting mechanisms to track recruitment performance and identify areas for improvement. Analyse workforce data to inform strategic planning and provide insights on trends, challenges, and opportunities. Compliance and Governance: Ensure all recruitment activities comply with APS regulations, organisational policies, and employment law. Oversee the development of position descriptions and ensure they align with AHL’s objectives and values. Qualifications and Experience Essential: At least 5 years of Human Resources (HR) experience, with a minimum of 3 years specialising in recruitment. Proven ability to manage high-volume recruitment campaigns and deliver innovative solutions. Desirable: Qualifications in Human Resources, or a related field. Experience in recruitment within the APS or a comparable organisation. Familiarity with contemporary talent acquisition technologies and tools. Across our network of hostels, dedicated AHL staff provide accommodation and meals for residents in a culturally safe and supportive environment. This network both refers residents to AHL and works alongside AHL to support residents to meet their needs.
