Job Description

The Industrial Elections and Ballots section leads and manages the activities and projects relating to the conduct of industrial elections, protected action ballots and fee-for-service electoral events for organisations registered with the Fair Work Commission. The section sits within the Roll, Service and Foundations branch, and the Service Delivery Group to working together to support the delivery operationally excellence elections and ballots. The key duties of the position include: The Director of the Industrial Elections and Ballots section is responsible for overseeing the conduct of industrial elections and the management of ballots, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. The Director will lead a dedicated team, providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of excellence in service delivery. The role is responsible for leading the team to undertake work with a high level of complexity and sensitivity, utilising specialist, professional and technical knowledge and significant judgement to ensure the delivery of effective and corporately aligned compliance and planning functions for the section. In addition, the role works closely with the Assistant Commissioner to contribute to Program and agency wide strategic planning. To excel you’ll have: Ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner, while committing energy and drive to see that goals are achieved. A demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC’s strategic direction. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff across a dispersed network while developing capabilities and embedding professionalism. Proven ability to communicate with influence, negotiate strategic outcomes and manage strategic stakeholder relationships, including across a geographically dispersed network. Proven strategic conceptual and analytical abilities with sound knowledge of change management practices and techniques to enable innovation. Demonstrated personal drive and integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and budget parameters. Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of relevant Australian laws, the Constitutions of registered organisations, AEC processes and practices and systems. Desirable Relevant qualifications in project management, business, public administration or similar. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Commonwealth frameworks. Eligibility AEC employees must be Australian citizens. Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
