Job Description

Who we are The department’s ICT Division has spent the last 12-months achieving significant milestones that have kicked off a transformational journey focused on laying the foundation for a technologically advanced, secure, and independent ICT environment that is adaptable, innovative, and capable of supporting the diverse needs of our internal and external customers. Our people are passionate about collaboratively finding best-fit solutions, that continuously improve our digital service delivery, secure and stabilise our IT environment, and streamline the interactions that support the department’s delivery of government priorities. The ICT Business and Governance Branch, is responsible for key enabling functions that underpin our ICT strategic planning, investment, purchases, governance, communications and operational workforce, working broadly across the division and the department. Our ICT Business Solution and Security Branch is responsible for the delivery of the ICT business solutions lifecycle from design to sustainment, as well as the department’s cyber security, adopting a security by design approach to solutions and artificial intelligence capability. The ICT Operational Services and Infrastructure Branch is responsible for the delivery and support of ICT services across the department, portfolio agencies and to Ministers. Responsibilities include network security and support, the delivery, deployment and support of remote and field ICT and critical incident response. We have immediate and expected vacancies to be filled across the division. These may include across the following ICT business sections: ICT Procurement and Contracts Digital Strategy and Investments Capability Design and Delivery ICT Service Operations The key duties of the position include: Our ICT Directors: lead high-performing teams, that may include APS and contractors, ensuring the planning, monitoring and delivery of the teams work program guide, support, develop and mentor staff foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with the APS values participate in and provide relevant decisions, advice and support to relevant Executive committees and forums as required deliver high quality, timely reports to key forums, Executive Committees and senior executives as required build trusted relationships across the department, government, and industry ensure effective stakeholder engagement, procurement, and project management practices to deliver results in a complex and evolving digital environment contribute to a safe, inclusive and healthy work environment for self and others. Eligibility Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen. Security Clearance - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Pre-employment Check - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months. A merit pool for filling the same or similar position in any location in Australia may be established at the conclusion of this selection process.
