Team Leader/Program Worker - VIC, Melbourne Metro GROW Australia Permanent Part-Time role - 4 days a week—Melbourne Metro Region, Victoria (Team Leader, VIC/TAS Branch) An exciting opportunity is available for a caring and empathetic individual who understands the impact that poor mental health can have on a person’s life. ABOUT THE ROLE GROW Australia is seeking a motivated Team Leader for our Program Worker team to work collaboratively with the Manager and National Office to develop and maintain good administrative processes that support efficient management. Positively contribute towards creating a healthy, inclusive & supportive team environment by leading and supporting staff and volunteers to achieve their annual goals and development. You will support service delivery in the Melbourne Metro region of Victoria through online and face-to-face support groups. The role is focused on supporting existing groups and expanding the Grow presence in the region and online. As well as generating referrals from outreach activity. The role will also work with groups of volunteers and assist them in working through group issues so that the program can continue to flourish and grow throughout Victoria. Ideally, you will: · Manage the program staff team to ensure appropriate support for Grow Groups and program activities including group meetings, training activities, social activities, and community outreach. · Become a leader in the GROW 12-step Mental well-being program · Support and assist program workers through training events and programs for the continuous development of our lived experience leaders · Highly organised with good administrative skills, including collecting and entering data for funder reports, completing reports completion and other administrative compliance requirements · Understand the unique mental health challenges affecting those in regional Victoria · Feel comfortable working with those who have a lived experience of mental illness from a place of hope and strength · Recognise every person’s value and the contribution they can make to the recovery of themselves and others · Understand Recovery Frameworks in a peer support group setting · Understand Cognitive Behavioural Therapy · Be able to contribute to building a community among established and new members through support groups, social activities, leadership development meetings, and community weekends · Have sound technological skills and feel comfortable supporting people in a digital format · Can work independently planning, managing and delivering services RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership Development · Support GROW leaders to encourage, animate and develop the leadership from within their community · Encourage and enable GROW’s consumers to participate in group support, training activities and social activities · Provide direct support, coaching and mentoring to Grow Program Organisers in the development and maintenance of a caring, sharing community · Build intentional peer to peer support in all GROW programs including Grow Program, Get Growing, Young Adults, Growing Resilience as required · Empower GROW’s Organiser and Recorder Teams in the running of regional activities and community building · Provide regular mentoring and support to the Group organisers and ensure dependency on staff is not enabled Service/Program Delivery Responsibilities · Expand the Grow Programs presence both face to face and online · Provide training to GROW’s Program participants in collaboration with consumer teams · Support interregional, intraregional and intra state community building activities · Provide support to the Organiser and Recorder Teams and ensure access to timely, quality information · Provide ongoing training to ensure all members can confidently undertake their roles · Ensure all volunteers have the skills and access to development that enables them to undertake their roles skillfully and efficiently Relationship Management · Generate referrals from outreach activity in the Melbourne region · Liaise with the broader community through purposeful outreach, involvement in network groups, and participation in public events to promote GROW’s Programs, with approval from management Compliance and Quality · Ensure activity data is accurate, collected and submitted in a timely way to funders and Grow Teams · Ensure all policies and procedures are implemented · Ensure all GROW leaders are educated in policies, procedures, and responsibilities · Actively participate in and contribute to workplace quality improvement activities · Receive complaints from participants and work with the appropriate teams to resolve · Comply with all relevant legislation, regulations policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and workplace health and safety standards · Work within delegations of position · Maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to all participants and GROW · Demonstrate high standards of personal and professional behaviour Safety · Champion the importance of every person’s physical, mental & emotional well-being; hold others accountable to this ethos · Lead by example, in the management of work and personal life · Manage personal health to ensure fitness for work. To be successful for this position, you will have to: Qualifications · 2 years’ experience in a leadership position · Qualifications in Mental Health, Youth Services, Education and Training, or Peer Support Group Work/Community Development OR · Knowledge and experience from previous roles and/or study with a combination of lived experience, expertise and competence · A Police Certificate is required in accordance with relevant legislation and Grow policy · Current Driver’s License · Current First Aid Certificate · Evidence of Australian citizenship or current working visa · Working with Children Experience · Demonstrated ability to work independently, planning managing and delivering services using good time management and working · Experience in the development of working relationships and active networks with other providers and funders and key stakeholders · Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (must have Excel) and demonstrated ability to learn other computer programs as required Knowledge · Demonstrated strong knowledge and experience in recovery-orientated mental health services · Knowledge of peer-to-peer programs · Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and carry tasks through to completion.
