The key duties of the position include: What you will do as a Public Information Officer / Senior Public Information Officer Public Information Officers and Senior Public Information Officers have a public contact role, communicating with, and providing information to, a range of external and internal stakeholders. In this role, you will undertake a range of tasks including: Handling phone and written contacts our online info forms from consumers and businesses to take reports about conduct they may find concerning and provide information on their rights under the laws the ACCC enforces and where they can receive further help. Undertaking general research tasks to potentially uncover matters that may meet the ACCC's Compliance and Enforcement Policy. Completing assessments, making referrals and liaising with internal stakeholders. In addition to the above duties, Senior Public Information Officers (APS4) provide guidance to team members as well as their peers and may assist with onboarding new team members. They undertake work of moderate complexity that is technical and/or sensitive in nature. About you To succeed in the role, you will have: strong oral and written communication skills to deal politely and tactfully with the public, and represent the ACCC in a professional manner the capacity to gather, refine and analyse data and to undertake basic research in line with guidance an ability to work in a scheduled environment and contribute positively to priorities and objectives the ability to be an agile, collaborative and effective team player. As a Senior Public Information Officer (ASP4), you will also require: an understanding of the ACCC’s role, purpose and objectives, and the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (or the ability to attain such knowledge quickly) a demonstrated ability to support junior team members in the workplace, including providing training and guidance. You will also be asked to indicate in your application whether you wish to be considered for the role at the APS3 classification, APS4 classification, or both the APS3 and APS4 classifications. Salary: APS3 $69,699 - $75,233 (plus 15.4% superannuation) APS4 $77,691 - $84,353 (plus 15.4% superannuation) Getting to know the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission The ACCC is an independent statutory authority that administers the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other Acts. The ACCC works to promote effective competition and fair trading in the market place to benefit consumers, business and the community, and efficiency in the delivery of certain infrastructure services. The AER is a part of the ACCC. The AER is Australia's national energy market regulator and has an independent board. The AER shares employees, resources and facilities with the ACCC.
