Job Description

Autism Consumer Consultant Royal Melbourne Hospital Be a part of a dynamic and committed Consumer Lived Experience team. You will work in the Mental Health Autism Consultation and Evaluation Service (MH-ACES) team - a small, dedicated team of professionals seeking the best support and outcome for our consumers who are diagnosed with Autism. Part time ongoing role, 16 hours per fortnight. Your new role: Use your lived experience to collaborate with the MH-ACES team. Inform and support the team as someone who is part of the Autistic community. You will be providing peer support and resources to people who have recently been diagnosed with Autism. This lived experience role is highly valued within the MH-ACES team and is on site Tuesdays at our Waratah Clinic in Moonee Ponds. Build your knowledge of the Public Mental Health system, to contribute to positive change within it. About you: You will be collaborative and communicate well in your approach to the work. You will have a diagnosis of Autism and experience of mental health service use. You will be competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. An ability to work independently and seek support when needed. The ability to respect both consumers and staff in a diverse and ever-changing environment. RMH Mental Health Services: Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS) provides person-centred, recovery-oriented care, treatment, and support through our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians and Lived and Living experience (LLE) consumer and carer experts. We are dedicated to providing caring and high-quality specialist community and hospital-based mental health services for adults and older adults who are experiencing or are at risk of developing a serious mental illness. We are committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering trauma informed holistic and evidence-based treatment, which is inclusive of family, carers supporters and kin. We have a robust future ahead as the lead mental health service for the Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, and also lead adult mental health service for Transforming Trauma Victoria (State-wide Trauma Service). These programs will drive mental health reform across the sector and will offer a wide range of opportunities for involvement of staff within the RMH MHS. Our partnerships with multiple community and academic organisations support our program and enable a sophisticated learning structure, with a focus on research translation.
