Job Description

About Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is a registered Indigenous Corporation and represents the interests of Bunurong Traditional Owners. It is the Registered Aboriginal Party appointed pursuant to the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic) covering part of metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, the Bass Coast and West Gippsland. The BLCAC is an inclusive organisation that represents Bunurong people, their culture and heritage. BLCAC provides a unified voice for its members and supports its people’s cultural goals and aspirations. About the Role: The Strong Country Ranger will work under the direction of the Strong Country Ranger Team Leaders to support land management activities across the Bunurong RAP area. This role includes participating in fire management, pest and invasive species control, and wildlife conservation to protect and restore Bunurong Country in alignment with cultural values and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities: Undertake on-Country tasks related to fire management, pest and weed control, and wildlife conservation. Assist in the planning and execution of cultural burning and ecological fire management practices. Implement pest species control programs, including monitoring and managing invasive species. Support wildlife monitoring initiatives and habitat restoration projects. Operate and maintain equipment safely and efficiently. Follow directions from Team Leaders to ensure all tasks are completed effectively and safely. Maintain compliance with BLCAC policies, procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety standards. Engage respectfully with community groups and stakeholders when required. Qualifications/Experience/Certifications: Aboriginality, Bunurong Nation – desirable Experience or interest in land management, fire management, pest control, or wildlife conservation. Agvet Chemical User Permit (or willingness to obtain). Chainsaw Licence (desirable). 4x4 driving experience (desirable). Clear Working with Children Check. National Police History Check. Current VIC Drivers Licence.
