Job Description

The key duties of the position include: The Role The Program Systems Integration Manager (PSIM) will report to the Chief Engineer and will coordinate a number of functional reports across the ADSB engineering teams. They will be expected to conduct a range of engineering assurance and oversight activities related to the integration and architecture design of JABMS in close collaboration with the ADSB engineering and AIR6500-1 Strategic Partner teams. In particular, the PSIM will hold the following key responsibilities: Lead engagement with the VCDF stakeholders and IAMD Program Management Office Provide guidance on and endorse critical AIR6500 project deliverables related to Architecture and Integration Provide guidance and oversight to all engineering teams across on Program approach to the AIR6500-1 architecture and integration with external IAMD environment Lead strategic level engagements with external stakeholders related to architecture and integration About our Team The recently announced 2024 National Defence Strategy stated that Defence must deliver a layered Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) operational capability urgently which means there are exciting opportunities to work on this critically important defence capability. The IAMD will interconnect the many systems and sensors across multiple domains (air, land, sea, space, electromagnetic and cyberspace), current and future, into a collaborative engagement network. It will enhance the speed and accuracy of those systems’ responses to rapidly advancing air and missile threats by employing a multi-layered System-of-Systems architecture and applying cutting-edge technologies to decision-making (e.g. Artificial Intelligence). Many aspects of the IAMD program are developmental in nature with no relevant global exemplars, and will place Australia at the very forefront of technological achievement. Our Ideal Candidate Experience with systems engineering applied to Defence missions. Experience with system integration working for Defence projects. Experience with using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools. Working knowledge of system architecture design and validation best practices. Demonstrated high level communication and stakeholder engagement skills. High level organisational skills, self-driven and initiative with the ability to influence and shape others’ behaviours to achieve tasks and organisation’s objectives. Eligibility Security Clearance Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”. Mandatory Qualifications This position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer. This engineering position may require the individual to be able to meet the requirements of Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia), Registered Professional Engineer (Professionals Australia) or demonstrated the ability to obtain such status within 12 months.
