Job Description

The HMA Group, a multi-disciplined engineering and project management organisation with a national base, is looking for a talented Electrical/Controls Engineer to join our Materials Handling division in Brisbane QLD. The Halley & Mellowes Australasia Group have been providing material handling and rail products and solutions to some of Australia's most vital industries for over 40 years. We design, manufacture, install, commission and service a wide variety of infrastructure and engineering projects both locally and internationally with our offices and engineering teams in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, Indonesia, South Africa and New Zealand. In this role you will be assisting in each phase of project delivery, including project management, electrical design, PLC and SCADA programming, simulation, document preparation, testing and commissioning. You will be expected to apply quality thinking in a team environment to create smarter designs, and work closely with others to ensure our high standards are met. Ideally the successful candidate will have a strong engineering background, with qualifications in Electrical, Computer Systems or Mechatronics fields of study and a desire to use your knowledge in a commercial environment. We are looking for people who are "hands on", can think for themselves and have the drive to get the project completed on time. The ideal candidate will need to satisfy the following criteria: Key responsibilities: Project management of various contracts including preparing request for quotations, placement of subcontract orders, cost and scheduling control. Provide assistance with business development, estimates, proposals and tenders through design, drawing and documentation. Produce HAZOP, Risk assessment, MDR, QA, Operation and maintenance documentation and engineering reports. Be customer oriented and focus on delivering project requirements and outcomes from the clients perspective. Ensure that the quality of output of the designs from HMA is in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities. Travel for on-site commissioning and provide direction to commissioning personnel. Proactively pursue improvements in processes and procedures. Core competencies and skills: Minimum of 5 years design experience in the industrial / mining sector. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Able to effectively manage ones time. Fluent in English with good verbal, written, interpersonal and organisational skills. Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and in-house engineering programs. Aspiring to excellence through continuous personal and professional training, learning and being passionate about success. Ability to work within the company's QA system and Code of Business Conduct. Current C class open license. Willingness to travel interstate and Internationally. Live in Australia with full working rights. The following skills / experience will be highly regarded: Bachelor in Engineering - Electrical/Computer Systems/Mechatronics. Electrical design experience using CAD packages. Control systems, including a variety of SCADA, PLC, RTU and telemetry systems.
