Job Description
UITP (International Association of Public Transport) is a passionate champion of sustainable urban mobility and is the only worldwide network to bring together all public transport stakeholders and all sustainable transport modes. We have more than 1,900 member companies coming from over 100 countries. Our members are public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, research institutes and the public transport supply and service industry. We are currently looking for a: Research and Training Manager As part of the Asia Pacific Regional Office, the Research and Training Manager will contribute to activities in the field of public transport and urban mobility. The AM Manager will work in close cooperation with the Senior Manager in the field, supporting and contributing to UITP knowledge and research activities within the Center of Excellence, Regional Training Centers and partners. The Expert reports directly to the Head of Asia Pacific Region. This position tasks include: Conduct research, knowledge development and data collection for research projects, under the direction of the Head of Asia-Pacific, on topics of public transport, urban transport and sustainable mobility in the Asia Pacific Region conciliating the needs of the sector and the association and the expectations of UITP’s Asia-Pacific members; 2. Manage the work, involvement and expectations of the UITP Asia-Pacific Committee and Platform (studies, reports, position papers, articles); 3. Manage and develop membership in the Asia Pacific region and deliver services (i.e. trainings and workshops) in line with the UITP Asia-Pacific business plan; 4. Ensure that knowledge content and research output in the Asia-Pacific Region contributes to added value services to the direct benefits of the UITP members and answers the priorities of the UITP Integrated Global Work Programme; 5. Draft and contribute to Asia-Pacific and global publications, including study reports, knowledge papers, policy briefs, newsletters, and other content; 6. Facilitate the sharing of content and information to different audiences (UITP members, decision makers, internal stakeholders) using different communication means; 7. Understanding the training needs of members and public transport industry, formulate the training plan together with UITP Head Office; 8. Execute the training plans through organise training sessions with the support of partners. Ensuring the logistic, trainers, training materials and administrative arrangement are in place for the trainings; 9. Be responsible and perform all required administrative tasks linked to the job in conformity with UITP head office requirements; 10. Perform ad hoc projects and assignments tasked by Head of Asia Pacific and Training Department; and 11. Fulfils responsibilities and interacts with UITP staff according to the UITP RISE values Job requirements Profile Young professional with knowledge in the field of public transport Experience in research and project management Good organizational skills, structured way of working, autonomy Strong oral and written English communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to an audience. Ability to speak Chinese and another Asian language is an asset. Ability to engage and coordinate international groups of stakeholders and experts, via meetings, workshops and other activities, with the goal to capture, develop and disseminate useful knowledge for the sector Team player, pro-active and problem-solving attitude Readiness to travel including long distance or more often, the Asia Pacific region and ability to work under pressure IT literate Integrity and professionalism UITP offers a friendly, caring and dynamic work atmosphere with a great team of 130 international colleagues, working together on the opportunities and challenges affecting the public transport sector.
