The Role: Working closely with the Chief Executive, Executives and Senior Managers, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Strategy and Governance Officer to join our dedicated Office of the Chief Executive team to: Support Divisions, teams, and officers across the department Exercising judgement and discretion in responding to emails and enquiries on behalf of the Chief Executive or the department and in delegating appropriate matters to officers to prepare timely responses and management of departmental and government Lead and manage a functional group, fostering team participation and cooperation to promote understanding, ownership and buy-in across the department Significantly contribute to the development, implementation, management, and improvement of processes and systems that formulate, evolve, and deliver on the department’s strategy. This role reports directly to Manager, Office of the Chief Executive and will see you responsible for relationship management, customer service, leadership, and corporate governance. About You: To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities: Knowledge of corporate governance principles and frameworks, and abiliity to develop and apply frameworks, and systems to the department’s context Political acumen and an understanding of government priorities, processes and accountabilities Think strategically, conceptually and crreatively to analyse, advise on, and resolve complex business problems, at both strategic and operational levels. Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communication with people at all levels. Development and application of strategy and strategic decision-making frameworks and tools. Experience in using a customer-centric approach to inform strategic decision-making processes. Desirable Qualification: Tertiary qualifications in a related field (desirable). Special Conditions Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
