Senior Social Worker

NHS Highland Lochaber Social Work Team has a vacancy for a Senior Social Worker; this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced social worker to join a busy Social Work team which works as part of an integrated health and social care community service. The Social Work team provides a generic adult social work service to adults including supporting transitions for young people with disability from children’s service, adult with learning disability, adults with complex health needs and physical disability, adults living with severe and enduring mental health needs and older adults. The Lochaber adult Social Work service works across a large geographical area and provides opportunity for practicing in rural Social Work as well as within the more Urban area of Fort William. The Senior Social Worker will support the Social Work Team Manager to manage and deliver leadership on professional issues for the Social Work Team; the workload includes some staff supervision, workload allocation in partnership with the Team Manager to ensure the proactive oversight the waiting lists and the prioritizing of work. Senior Social Workers also hold a small case load of complex cases and have a Nominated Officer role in Adult Support and Protection. Candidates should have a suitable professional Social Work qualification and be registered with the SSS. They should also be able to demonstrate at least five years of post-qualifying experience and have extensive statutory social work experience which has involved working in the care, support and protection of vulnerable people. This post will be based in Fort William, and you will be required to provide services across the whole Lochaber area.
