Job Description

Footpath Inspection Officer The Opportunity Our client, a Melbourne-based engineering consultancy established in 2017, specializes in the management of infrastructure assets. With a strong reputation for excellence, they are currently seeking several Footpath Inspection Officers to support footpath inspections across various Council areas around Melbourne, including Melton, Mitchell Shire, and Stonnington, with more locations to follow. The project duration is between 2 to 5 months, with opportunities to transition between assignments. This role is essential for performing visual inspections and recording various footpath hazards and defects. To succeed, you will need exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. This role involves walking and being on your feet for most of the day, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is physically fit. Key Details: Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM Pay Rate: $31.00 per hour super Travel Allowance: $25.00 per day Duration: Council assignment-based, average jobs last between 1 week to 1 month, with 1-2 week break between jobs. (varies depending on requirements) Potential for Interstate Travel: Occasional travel, with expenses covered Own Transport: Must have reliable transport Position Overview: As a Footpath Inspection Officer, your primary responsibility is to conduct visual inspections of footpaths, identifying and documenting any hazards or defects. You will also be required to collect data using specialized mobile applications. The role requires excellent attention to detail, as well as a strong focus on safety and accuracy. Key Responsibilities: Conduct routine inspections of footpaths and record data related to defects and hazards. Identify and report hazards and defects efficiently and accurately. Use a mobile device equipped with relevant applications for hazard/defect recording. Collaborate with your team to foster a cooperative and respectful work environment. Qualifications and Experience: Own reliable transport essential Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety practices. High Proficiency in using mobile devices, personal computers, and various software. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Previous experience in asset inspections, asset management, or maintenance is advantageous. Familiarity with road, footpath, and asset maintenance or construction is desirable. Additional Information: Full PPE, equipment, and mobile devices will be provided. Comprehensive training will be provided to all successful candidates. The project requires full availability for the duration of the assignment, and you may be required to live away from home for short periods.
