Solution Architect

Solution Architect Contract to 30/05/2025 | Brisbane & Work from Home Join a large Queensland government department as a Solution Architect, assisting in developing the solution design for a cloud journey. This role combines technical leadership, architecture design, and transitioning applications into a multi-cloud environment, including AWS and Azure. Key responsibilities include: Participate in the planning, prioritisation, and sequencing of complex cloud transformation initiatives in line with the defined cloud strategy and architectural principles Architects and oversees the delivery of technical solutions that solve existing, new and emerging levels of complexity, scale and performance for the cloud environment In conjunction with other technical resources produce technical solutions that incrementally migrate to a multi-cloud environment Ensures services are designed to business needs, service levels and non-functional requirements Hands on solution prototyping and testing of architecture patterns and design principles Provide subject matter expertise cloud-based services, while considering industry standards, security, performance, stability, availability, and cost Aligns architectures with relevant strategies and architecture frameworks Build and maintain the cloud architecture landscape, roadmaps, patterns and application/technology portfolios Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements Drives deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are successfully deployed in the cloud in line with industry standards About You Extensive experience in IT implementations including scalable cloud-based solutions and microservices architectures and the migration of in-house-built solutions with legacy architectures to AWS / Azure Cloud First architectures Extensive knowledge of cloud architecture, implementation and resource optimisation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualisation, orchestration, elastic scalability etc) Exposure to API design strategies both for internal and external customer usage Expert in architecting solutions across disparate technologies to achieve the complex business objectives of multiple business areas Strong technical proficiency across AWS and Azure environments Strong experience with containers and serverless architectures Practical experience building solutions within AWS and Azure and experience with architecting production workloads for business and IT operations, across a hybrid cloud environment Experience designing distributed systems and working with event driven design patterns Experience designing and guiding the breakdown of monolithic systems into a microservices architecture Solid experience with AWS and Azure services, licensing, billing, credit and escalation processes Queensland based candidates only.
