Job Description

About the role As a Chef, you will be responsible for all kitchen operations including ordering, stock management, waste management, menu design and implementation. This includes menu planning, food preparation, kitchen management, and ensuring high-quality dishes are consistently delivered to our customers. About us Ollies Cafe Bar is a is a popular dining spot in Leopold that operates daily offering a variety of Australian cuisine, including vegetarian-friendly options. We are renowned for our exceptional food, warm hospitality, and vibrant atmosphere. As part of our talented culinary team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success and evolution of our much-loved establishment. About the role We are offering a full time Chef position that involves: 1. Menu Design • Create appealing menus that align with customer preferences, dietary needs, and seasonal ingredients. • Stay updated with food trends, culinary techniques, and industry best practices to continuously improve our offerings. 2. Food Preparation and Cooking • Preparing and cooking food • Supervise and spearhead food preparation, ensuring all dishes are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and health regulations. • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain freshness and quality of ingredients. 3. Kitchen Management • Lead and manage kitchen staff • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, 4. Quality Control • Conduct regular inspections and tastings to ensure consistency • Address any customer feedback or complaints related to food quality promptly and professionally. 5. Cost Management • Monitor food and labor costs 6. Collaboration and Communication • Collaborate with management to develop promotions and special menus to enhance customer satisfaction. Skills/Qualifications required • Commercial cookery qualification (preferred) • At least 2 years of relevant experience • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment • Excellent communication and teamwork skills • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene Salary Salary will be commensurate with experience and in the range of $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation.
