Job Description

Lead Service & UX Designer Package: Up to £95,000 15% Bonus Location: London - Hybrid In office: 2-3 days per week The Opportunity: A Digital Design Consultancy seeks an influential Lead Service & UX Designer to help design and implement a transformative Government Digital Service (GDS). The Role: Enhance Design Capabilities: Collaborate with Design, Client Services, and Project Management teams to create innovative experiences for users Mentor and Guide: Act as both a practitioner and mentor throughout the design process, from research to final product development. Lead Design Initiatives: Drive client workshops and brainstorming sessions while establishing clear design principles. User-Focused Approach: Ensure designs are grounded in user insights from research partnerships and internal teams. Innovate Practices: Evolve Service Design methods by integrating new insights and approaches. Nurture Talent: Provide constructive feedback to junior designers, fostering their development and growth. Key Requirements: Previous experience working on Government Digital Service (GDS) projects. Active SC Security Clearance is preferred. Career background in UX Design before transitioning into Service Design Proven ability to lead senior-level workshops and collaborate with stakeholders to produce detailed, high-quality deliverables, such as wireframes, prototypes, and user journeys. Skilled in managing multi-designer projects and mentoring junior designers to foster team growth. Expertise in service design methodologies and tools, including Adobe CC, InVision, Sketch, and Axure, with a strong capability to create sketches and explore concepts. Resilient in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong business acumen. Continuously updated on emerging technologies and the digital economy, fueled by curiosity and a passion for innovation. Possesses a broad strategic perspective, champions user-centred design principles and effectively tackles complex challenges with a craft-focused approach.
