Job Description

HR Manager Salary: £48,000- £52,000 per annum Contract: Fixed term (6–12 months) We are working with a leading higher education institution in Wales to recruit an experienced HR Manager for a fixed-term role. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving transformation and change across the organisation during a critical period. As HR Manager, you’ll provide expert professional advice and operational support on all aspects of HR management. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver effective change management, manage complex employee relations cases, and ensure the successful implementation of HR policies. You will also lead and develop HR staff, enabling a high-performing and collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide a comprehensive HR advisory service across the organisation. Manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, and appeals, ensuring adherence to legal and policy standards. Work with the HR leadership team to design and deliver effective change management initiatives. Lead consultation and engagement activities with stakeholders, including trade unions. Develop and manage HR staff, offering leadership and guidance as required. Collaborate with colleagues to support organisational design, job evaluation, and transformation activities. Regularly review and improve HR processes, delivering training and guidance to ensure best practices. Support the development of staff through training initiatives aligned with organisational goals. What You’ll Need: Postgraduate or professional qualification (or equivalent HR experience). CIPD membership. Significant generalist HR experience in a complex organisation. Expert knowledge of HR policy, employment law, and best practices. Proven ability to lead and deliver HR projects, including change management. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior-level decisions. Advanced IT, reporting, and analytical skills. Desirable Skills: Experience working in higher education or a similar environment. Experience negotiating with trade unions. Fluency in Welsh (written and oral).
