Head Veterinary Surgeon

REFERENCE: GA5153 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Surgeon to lead a dynamic and talented team in Barnsley. As the Head Vet, you will be a key member of the management team, responsible for overseeing clinical standards, delivering exceptional patient care, and mentoring and inspiring the veterinary and nursing team. You’ll lead the charge in delivering gold-standard, evidence-based veterinary care and play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the practice. The working pattern is designed to provide a great work-life balance: four days per week with one in four weekends. There are no out-of-hours duties, with on-call responsibilities only for any overnight inpatients. The team currently includes four RVNs and two Veterinary Surgeons, with a new graduate. One vet specializes in exotics, and another is advancing her imaging skills, ensuring a variety of interesting cases. The practice also has a strong history of supporting students, many of whom have joined permanently post-qualification. This role provides a chance to shape the practice’s future and work towards becoming a center of clinical excellence.
