Senior Practitioner - Children's Services Location: South East of England Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Competitive Myn is excited to recruit for a Senior Practitioner on behalf of our long-term client in the South East of England. This role is perfect for an experienced social worker ready to step into a leadership position, where you'll handle complex cases, support team development, and influence practice standards across the service. About the Role As a Senior Practitioner in Childrens Services, you will manage a caseload of complex and high-risk cases, working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and their families. You will also mentor and support social workers within your team, ensuring high standards of professional practice and providing expert guidance on challenging cases. This role involves leading on initiatives, keeping abreast of legislative changes, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and maintain high-quality service delivery. Key Responsibilities Manage a diverse caseload of complex cases, ensuring effective assessment, planning, and implementation to safeguard children. Provide professional advice, mentoring, and supervision to social workers, including Practice Assessor responsibilities for students and ASYE participants. Conduct audits, case reviews, and quality assurance to maintain high practice standards. Liaise with courts and other professional stakeholders, offering expertise on sensitive and high-profile cases. Lead service initiatives, including research work and multi-agency forums, to develop innovative and effective practices. Stay informed on changes in legislation and policies, sharing knowledge to ensure timely implementation within the team. What Were Looking For Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (CQSW/DipSW or equivalent) and registration with HCPC. Evidence of continuing professional development. Experience: Substantial experience in working with children and families, including family placements, permanency planning, and systemic practice (e.g., Signs of Safety). Experience mentoring and supporting staff is essential. Skills: Strong direct work skills with children and families. Ability to mentor and supervise team members to achieve high practice standards. Excellent communication and negotiation skills in complex situations. A high standard of quality assurance through supervision and case audits. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of child development, attachment, resilience, and safeguarding legislation. Knowledge of equal opportunities frameworks and non-discriminatory practices.
