Job Description

We're looking for an exceptional Business Support Practitioner for the Joint Centre for Excellence in Environmental Intelligence (JCEEI), to help us make a difference to our planet. As our Business Support Practitioner - JCEEI, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. Our opportunity is part time, 19 hours per week. Whilst this is a temporary position, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position. You would facilitate the smooth and efficient running of the JCEEI, organise and be present at the events and activities that will shape the future and take ownership to processes and practices that maximise the team's capacity. You will be working in the JCEEI as a Business Support Practitioner, responsible for providing routine, often complex, administration support to staff within the JCEEI. You will work closely with our partners at Exeter University, and colleagues across the Met Office, to ensure the smooth running of our Programme and Projects and outreach events. Your key duties: Organisation of logistics of key events such as training, conferences and workshops. End to end management of complex travel, potentially for numerous attendees. Provide PA support (inbox and calendar management) for the Met Office JCEEI Co-Director. Setting up meetings with colleagues across Met Office and University partners. Carry out a wide range of procurement tasks to include payment of invoices, raising purchase orders and supplier set-up. Make recommendations for, and where possible lead on, improvements and changes to processes and procedures that support the activities above and the functioning of the JCEEI, either locally or through cross-office initiatives Provide a key point of contact for people contacting the JCEEI, including organising and hosting JCEEI visitors to the Met Office. As our Business Support Practitioner, your total reward package will be up to £38,280.00 annually, which includes: £26,954 base pay An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97% Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave Essential Criteria, skills and experience: Highly organised with evidence of excellent prioritisation, organisational and time management skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex administrative tasks, often with competing workloads and sometimes to very short deadlines, on time and in full (Met Office Value: We're experts by nature) Evidence of good written and oral communication skills, displaying attention to detail and a proven track record of effective communication at all organisational levels Demonstrate we are better together by demonstrating strong interpersonal and team-working skills with a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, building relationships with colleagues at all levels (Met Office Value: We're better together) Ability to monitor and act on information and data from multiple sources Experienced in the use of Microsoft 365 tools, with demonstrable ability to apply these tools to improve the efficiency of administrative tasks and strengthen collaborative and team working (Met Office value: We're a force for good) How to apply If you share our values, we'd love to hear from you Click apply to begin your application.
