Family Learning Tutor
Job Location
Bracebridge, United Kingdom
Job Description
Who You Are You are a passionate and adaptable educator interested in making a difference to families by improving their learning outcomes. Ideally, you possess experience or qualifications in teaching English and maths, specifically for adults. As a flexible individual, you understand the dynamics of providing family learning, which focuses on fostering a positive learning environment while supporting both parents and children. You are comfortable with engaging hard-to-reach learners who might have struggled academically in the past, and are dedicated to enhancing their skills without the stigma of previous under-achievement. Your skill set allows you to teach varied locations like Horncastle/Louth, Skegness/Mablethorpe, Grantham, Stamford, and Holbeach, and you are open to working with adults aged 19 during school term times. What the Job Involves This role involves delivering joint family learning sessions in coordination with local schools, where you'll interact directly with adult learners while a school link teacher handles the parent-child sessions. The job also includes adult-only classes that focus primarily on ESOL learners and Functional Skills in English and Maths. You'll be conducting courses and workshops with durations generally lasting two hours, with preparation, planning, and setup compensated separately at £21 per hour. Joint sessions cover a range of topics such as Keeping up with the Children, Family Fun Outdoors, and Healthy Living. The position commences in January post-interview and includes an induction and mandatory online training. As this role is contingent on schools recruiting learners, your flexibility is crucial, with teaching assignments varying in frequency and availability based on local schools' demand. While full-time hours aren't offered, efforts are made to match your preferred weekly working hours within the constraints. Payment examples include £94.50 per FL joint session workshop or £420 for a 4-week course. You’ll be responsible for enhancing the confidence and learning attitudes of families by providing them with the skills needed to support their children in a fun, engaging manner.
