Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with additional needs at a primary school in the Leeds, LS7 area. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. This primary school provides a welcoming and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. With a strong focus on both academic and personal development, the school fosters creativity, resilience, and a love for learning. The dedicated staff work closely with families to ensure all children receive the care and attention they need to succeed. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one support to the pupil, assisting with their academic tasks and promoting engagement in lessons. Support the pupil's social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour and building their confidence. Help create a safe and nurturing learning environment, adapting materials and resources to suit the pupil's needs. Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress and contribute to individual learning plans. Foster independence by encouraging self-reliance and developing strategies for managing tasks. Communicate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the pupil's holistic development. Requirements: Experience working with children with additional needs, particularly in a primary school setting, is desirable. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with children. A proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development. A good understanding of the national Key Stage (KS) curriculum and child development and learning. The ability to demonstrate active listening skills and strong verbal communication skills, building positive relationships with pupils and understanding their needs. The ability to provide varying levels of individual attention, reassurance and support with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils' needs. The ability to provide constructive feedback to pupils in a way that reinforces self-esteem, handling complex and sensitive issues with empathy and understanding.
