Job Description
JOB: Criminal Duty Solicitor SALARY: DOE A well-established firm based in Milton Keynes Summary of role – Handling a varied caseload of private and legal aid funded criminal defence cases – Representing clients from initial caution through to case conclusion – Dealing with ranging matters from police caution through to Magistrates / Crown Court Main tasks and responsibilities – Manage a range of criminal cases, including traffic matters, serious violence, murder, sexual offences, fraud, and public order and dishonesty – Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing commercially viable advice and support – Provide representation in court, ensuring the best possible outcome for clients – Work collaboratively with other departments within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services – To ensure confidentiality of the firm’s and clients’ documents and information, maintaining the highest standard of client care. Personal skills and attributes – Qualified Criminal Solicitor with current practising certificate – 2 years PQE – Duty Solicitor status – An exceptional grasp of criminal law and procedure. – Proficiency in organising tasks and adhering to deadlines. – Ability to offer quality counsel to clients. – A capacity to work efficiently while maintaining a flexible approach. – Professional and pleasant with the strong communication skills – Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently – Self-motivated and proactive to identify problems and find solutions – Able to give and receive constructive feedback, working effectively as part of a team – Flexible, adaptable and agile and able to manage unexpected changes to workload – Able to prioritise and manage time effectively – Active in promoting the Firm’s services, image, values and ethos
